HARD BOP DRUMS MATERIALS:
Kits: Solid Stave shell, Segment shell and Keller Vintage shell kits. Stave shell snares are available from 5/16" thick with integrated reinforcement hoops up to a full 1.5" thick! Stave shell kits are generally 3/8" thick, but they can be adjusted to just about any thickness of shell if the buyer so desires. Segment shell snares vary from 1/4" to 1/2" thick and the Segment kits come in 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8". The Keller Vintage shells are 3 plies of Mahogany and 3 plies of Poplar with 10 ply maple reinforcement hoops. These shells have been made to sound like the vintage drums made by Slingerland, WFL and Rogers, but they are made up to today's superior quality. The Keller Vintage shell kits are only available in wrapped finishes.
Snares: Solid Stave shell, Segment shell, Keller Vintage shells and, we are now going to offer Solid steam bent shells like the old Radio Kings and Craviatto snares.
Lugs: We are currently using Ego Drum lugs: Ego Drum Supply and solid Chrome over brass tube lugs that vary from 1"single sided to 12" full length lube lugs. We are also looking into a special Hard Bop Proprietary lug, but that is at least a year off.
Snare Throw Offs: We are offering the new Dunnett Throw off and butt, the Updated and improved Nickel Drumworks throw off and the new , Ego Throw off.
Snare Wires: We import Canopus snare wires from Japan and have found them to be THE finest wires on the market.
Heads & Rims: Most snares and kits ship with Remo Coated or Clear Ambassadors, but this can by changed by buyer request. Our stock toms come with die cast hoops. We have always preferred that sound and they offer a more professional and finished look to the kit. Snares generally ship with standard triple flanged hoops, but they can be upgraded with COB triple flanged hoops, COB single flanged 2.5 mm single flanged hoops, die cast hoops and solid exotic wood hoops from Iron City Drumworks. Hard Bop is one of the few companies that offers the new Alloy RIMS mounts on their drums, made by Gauger Percussion. Gary Gauger was the original inventor of the RIMS mounts and has done EXTENSIVE research into finding the best way for drums to resonate.
